Jessica Lee Cornett

Jessica Lee Cornett was born and raised on her family’s farm in rural Laurel County, Kentucky.  It was there that she learned the life lessons while tending to a field of tobacco and caring for the animals.  Upon graduating high school, she attended Berea College.  It was there that she gained her educational experience in both agriculture and business. In 2002, she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with emphasis in management and marketing.  She served as the Head Photographer of the Chimes Yearbook.  She was also a student researcher at the Appalachian Center and co-editor of the Appalachian Heritage magazine.

Now living in Versailles, Kentucky, Cornett continues to capture memories of rural Kentucky living through photography.  She has been featured in several newspaper and magazine publications, as well as several local and regional art shows.  Cornett’s goal is to be able to capture and share those unforgettable moments in time that also promote Kentucky’s culture and rural living through various ways.

Eye of the Beholder SOLD

“Eye of the Beholder” was a vision for many years of featuring one of the most predominant features of a horse – the eye.  The eye sees the field of dreams while grazing.  It sees the opportunity while in a race and then the finish line.  It sees the closure with the plank fences surrounding it.

Coming from a farm and having an appreciation for farm animals, I set out to get this photo.  After several years, I was able to achieve this goal while visiting a Three Chimneys Farm in rural Woodford County, Kentucky.  The beauty and tranquil of the horse can be seen in this photo.  The view of the countryside can also be seen in its eye, thus the name “Eye of the Beholder” – the one behind the fence.
