JM Hobson
My goal in creating art is to make a connection with my subject and make
an artistic expression to create a vivid response to the viewer through
the chosen medium. I convey that connection while exploring my emotional
response through color, texture, lines and shapes as those feelings flow
onto the surface.
The initial layering of transparent colors on watercolor paper or
illustration board begins the process. After pouring the colors, moving
them together and sometimes applying textured objects for variety, I let
the first layer dry. I enjoy working in stages and often times work
several under paintings before coming back to work into them. When a
direction is recognized through color, I will then move the color upon
my paper guided by my feelings. I then let faith guide me as an image
begins to emerge and reassures my soul as the painting nears completion.
