Karine Wilson
Karine Wilson (born Hudson, WI) received her BSc from the University of Wisconsin in 2005. She is currently a MFA Candidate at the University of Kentucky, and lives in Lawrenceburg. She has presented over eight solo exhibitions and has been honored in over seven juried exhibitions. This year she was awarded the Mary Foote Fellowship (IN) and the Millennium Award (from the University of KY). Her work is currently on display at the Rhode Island School of Design and locally at the Tuska Center for Contemporary Art.

The original object that I used to make this image was a length of old hay-baling twine I found in a local barn, that then crocheted with my hands. For me this eluded to both the hard manual labor involved with making your living from the earth, and examining the heritage of women’s role in that work.
