Over the course of four years, I have been exploring abstract representations through the form of photography by creating close-up images of surfaces found within my everyday environment. As I began to investigate areas that most are hesitant to explore, I discovered intricate surfaces with peeling paint and rusted stains marked heavily with the evidence of the passage of time. Looking closer into these images allows the viewer to discover the mark making of humans and nature working together to create a unique surface. Every part of the image is essential to the whole. Every line. Every crack. Every color.
