Louise Stone
I began sculpting in 1990, under the tutelage of Els van Foeken of Holland. I have had the privilege of studying with several renowned sculptors, including Barney Bright, Bob Lockhart and Chris Winters. I had the opportunity to study at Arrowmont School of Art in Tennessee in 1995 and 1996, and at “Expressie 70 School of Art” in Alphen, Holland in 1993.
My work has been selected in several juried shows, including the Lexington Art League’s “Nude 1996” show in which two of my pieces (“Holding Onto Sorrow” and “Whispering Woman”) were featured. I have also shown at two Artist Attic shows; at one I received the “People’s Choice Award” for my work, “The Climber.”
I was a featured artist in the Blackhorse Gallery in Midway in the mid-1990’s, at “Gallery on Main” in the Community Trust Bank gallery in Richmond, Kentucky in 2006, and at the Hopewell Museum in Paris, Kentucky in the fall of 2007. Other recent exhibits have been for charitable donations to Hospice, The Lexington Art League, The Kentucky Domestic Violence Association, and Go Women.
My work is currently featured at “The Speckled Egg Gallery” in Danville, Kentucky.

I view the world through a sense of wonder, and I express my passion for life through giving movement to solid form. I believe that there is grace in every living thing. I try to show the tension that exists even in stillness.
I like to make stones and metal dance with energy.
