Kentucky Domestic Violence Association
The Kentucky Domestic Violence Association (KDVA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit association dedicated to ending domestic violence and bringing peace to Kentucky homes.
- Intimate partner violence is primarily a crime against women. In 2001, women accounted for 85 percent of the victims of intimate partner violence (588,490 total) and men accounted for approximately 15 percent of the victims (103,220 total). 1
- Around the world, at least one in every three women has been beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused during her lifetime. 2
- Approximately one in five female high school students reports being physically and/or sexually abused by a dating partner. 3
- Three in four women (76 percent) who reported they had been raped and/or physically assaulted since age 18 said that a current or former husband, cohabiting partner, or date committed the assault. 4
- One in five (21 percent) women reported she had been raped or physically or sexually assaulted in her lifetime. 5
Domestic violence, as well as dating violence, stalking, sexual assault, and human trafficking are acts of violence primarily against women and girls.
Artists for Peace is a special project of KDVA which encourages artists to become engaged in systems change to end violence against women and girls through a contribution of their artwork.
Proceeds from the sale of donated artwork go directly to furthering the mission of the Kentucky Domestic Violence Association.
