Accuse you of being unfaithful? - Hit, push, shove, slap or kick you?
- Force you to have sex against your will?
- Keep you from seeing your family and friends?
If you answered "YES" to any of these, you are in an abusive relationship. You are not alone. The abuse is not your fault. Help is available.
Anyone can be a victim of domestic violence. Domestic violence can happen to people of all ages, races, religions, sexual orientations, income and educational levels. Both men and women are victims of domestic violence.
Domestic violence does NOT go away on it's own. Usually it gets worse with time. Talking with someone may not be easy but it can help. No one deserves to be abused.
DOVES offers 24-hour assistance, 7 days a week to anyone who is a victim of spouse/partner abuse. There is NO charge or fee for services. These services include:
- 24-Hour Crisis Line
- A safe place to stay for victims and their dependent children
- Individual Counseling
- Legal Advocacy
- Support Groups
What to Do if Violence Occurs.
- Get out of the house if you are not safe. Seek assistance from a neighbor or friend or go to a public place.
- Call 911 or the police.
- Go to the hospital emergency room if that is an option.
- Call DOVES.
