DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PORTABLE RESOURCE STATIONS
The Rural Domestic Violence & Child Victimization Enforcement Project aims to promote awareness about domestic violence in rural areas of Kentukcy. As part of this project, we have created four domestic violence portable resource stations to be placed at 32 sites across the state over the next two years, for a period of 3 months at each site.
The portable resource stations contain journal articles on domestic violence topics, as well as a variety of free brochures for the public to take. Each resource station is a bookcase that is six (6) foot tall and one (1) foot wide and fits easily inot the corner of a room.
We are currently accepting applications from agencies that would be interested in hosting one of the portable domestic violence resource stations. KDVA staff will come to the stie to set up the station and will provide the contact person with a press release and flyers to promote the station in their community. KDVA staff will be available to answer any questions and fulfill any requests for additional material.
The portable station can be set up in a variety of sites, such as public libraries, family resource centers, community colleges, cooperative extension offices, health department, hospitals, social service agencies, domestic violence outreach offices, housing authorities, etc.
To apply to be a resource station host site, simply print out and complete an application and mail it to the Kentucky Domestic Violence Association, Attn: Keely, P.O. Box 356, Frankfort, KY 40602.
