DOMESTIC VIOLENCE RESOURCE CENTERS

The Rural Domestic Violence & Child Victimization Enforcement Project aims to promote the awareness about domestic violence in rural areas of Kentucky. As part of this project, we have developed two Domestic Violence Resource Centers, one in the Eastern region and one in the Western region.

Each Center contains a variety of domestic violence materials, including books that visitors may read while at the Center, videos that can be checked out and viewed while at the Center, as well as an array of domestic violence brochures, which visitors can take with them.
Each Center has an area with a television/VCR for viewing videos, and tables and chairs for reading books.

The materials cover a wide variety of topics including domestic violence reserach, domestic violence resources for victims, dating violence, elder abuse, effects of domestic violence on children, and battered immigrant women.
For a complete list of books, videos, and brochures available at each Center, please contact KDVA at (502) 695-2444.

The Eastern Kentucky Domestic Violence Resource Center is housed at the Knott County Public Library in Hindman. The Knott County Library is currently in the process of building a new library, so it is temporarily located in the basement of the Thacker-Grigsby Telephone Compnay building on 60Communications Lane in Hindman. The Library is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

The Western Kentucky Resource Center is housed at the Ramold Center, 718 Allen Street, on the campus of Brescia University in Owensboro. The Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.

The project aims to serve rural communities throughout the region in addition to the county where the Center is housed. The Center welcomes all interested citizens, including educators, service providers, and victimes/survivors of abuse.

Please contact KDVA with any questions you may have about the Resource Centers.
