Where: Safe Harbor of Northeast Kentucky Domestic Violence Shelter, Ashland
Description: A Tree Planting Ceremony will mark the beginning of a landscaping plan to benefit the women and children living within Safe Harbor's walls. The garden will symbolize peace, comfort and unity for the victims of domestic violence that have come to the shelter seeking safety. Community members are asked to contribute by donating and planting trees and shrubbery for the garden areas. Light lunch and refreshments will be served.

Other: On August 18 BRASS will distribute the “Until the Violence Stops: Kentucky” edition of the TEEN Scene, a Verizon Wireless Award-winning publication, to regional high schools and middle schools. The publication will contain writings from area students.

Where: Restaurants and grocery stores in the Louisville Metro area
Description: Feed Your Healthy Relationship is a two-week awareness and fund-raising campaign bringing food and relationships together. Participating restaurants will feature a special item on their menu, distribute awareness materials to their customers and donate a percentage of sales during the campaign to The Center for Women and Families. Event: Open-Mic Poetry

Where: Expressions of You Coffeehouse (1800 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd.) Description: Expressions of You Coffeehouse is partnering with the Center for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention to make their weekly open-mic poetry part of the UTVS: Kentucky Festival.
The call has been put out to young poets, rappers, artists, readers to write or read poems that explore the issues of violence against women and girls. Everyone is encouraged to raise their voice or just listen and show support. There will be prizes for audience favorites. Cost is $5 with a percentage of the night's proceeds benefiting Louisville's Center for Women and Families. Contact Smith Crafton at (502) 587-5001 for more information.

Event: A Men’s Concert for Gender Peace

Where: Bunbury Theatre at the Henry Clay (3rd and Chestnut) Description: Join three local men’s bands (John Gage, The Joel Timothy Band and The Uprising) and MENSWORK to celebrate and honor the work to end sexual and domestic violence. Description: A panel to explore issues faced by women in conflict zones. In conjunction with the play, Necessary Targets in Lexington, KY on August 23rd.
On-going: During the University of Louisville’s “Welcome Weekend”(Aug 18th - 19th) and the high risk first two weeks of fall semester, the University of Louisville PEACC Program will display promotional materials for the UTVS campaign. PEACC will also distribute dog tags with the phrase "Until the Violence Stops" to students along with a calendar of events to encourage participation in local and statewide events. Description: This community drumming, art and writing workshop will encourage creative expression by having participants write from personal experiences. The day will culminate with a “choreopoem” written by the participants and a healing drum circle.

Event: “Art as Activism” Lecture
Time: 4:00 p.m.
Where: Breckinridge Hall 002, Morehead State University
Description: Using art as activism can be incorporated community-wide, in groups, and individually. This presentation will illustrate the ways women artists have employed their art to express their feelings, to educate the public, and to heal and empower themselves in an attempt to cope with, and overcome, traumatic experiences related to violence committed against them. Art can use artistic experimentation, creativity and innovation to tackle important social issues.

Event: Reception for “Imagine a World Without Violence” Art Show

Description: The Morehead Community is invited to participate in the Imagine a World Without Violence Art Show. The responses received will form the exhibition. The purpose of the art show is to make people think about the impact of violence against women and girls.
The exhibition hopes to clearly communicate the impact of violence on people’s lives and assist in bringing this issue further into the open, especially in rural areas where it is often not acknowledged.

MURRAY EVENTS

Where: WNBS Radio Station
Description: This radio show will feature the Executive Director of Merryman House Domestic Crisis Center and volunteers from the community who are working to educate the community about ending violence against women and girls. The show will help to communicate the impact domestic violence makes not only on the community but also in the lives of individuals, families, and children.

Event: Until the Violence Stops Candelight Vigil Time: 8:00 p.m.
Where: Murray Banquet Center
Description: Please join us for this night of hope and reflection to honor women and girls who have lost their lives as a result of violence. Come support survivors of domestic violence as they give their own testimonies of hope and triumph and take this opportunity to meet and greet those in our community who need your help in helping to end violence against women and girls.
Light refreshments provided and display tables will be available to provide information about local resources available to victims and information on how attendees can volunteer their time to end violence against women and girls.
NORTHERN KENTUCKY EVENTS

Event: 13th Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Event (Day of Peace) Time: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Where: Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center 1028 Scott Blvd., Covington, KY
Description: Day of Peace is taking on a new look and name for this year. We’ve joined forces with V-Day, a national collaborative effort to make the world safer for women and children.
Our program will include keynote speaker, NKU Professor Darrell Payne, also David Bezold, NKU Basketball Coach. We will present the 2nd annual Amy Rezos Jones Domestic Violence Award and we will end with entertainment, gourmet desserts and coffee. Notre Dame Academy Strings and Covington Catholic High School Jazz Band will also perform. Twelve agencies in Northern Kentucky are working collaboratively to put on this event.

On-Going
• Women's Crisis Center Rural Services will be distributing teen dating violence awareness cards. These cards will be distributed to the community and also also will be used at various times of the year at special events. The cards will be passed out at floral shops and tuxedo rental businesses.
• Covington Schools are going to implement a program with their Summer Youth Program. They are going to be designing a ribbon raising awareness in the community. This ribbon will be produced in bulk and passed out to the community and also for our event at the Carnegie. Covington school children will wear this ribbon during the 2 weeks we have designated for Until the Violence Stops:KY.
OWENSBORO EVENTS

Where: Downtown Owensboro
Description: OASIS, the regional domestic violence program, will promote Until the Violence Stops: Kentucky at this local event. The event has local bands, vendors, and restaurants participating. OASIS will have a booth. Stop by, buy a t-shirt, and see pictures of city/county officials and other citizens committing to peace!
PADUCAH EVENTS

Where: Maiden Alley Cinema
Description: The Film Festival will be an event celebrating women and their efforts to bring equality to all and will feature a special showing of "Iron Jawed Angels" as well as other films, written, directed and/or produced by women or films that focus on women's issues.
There will be tables set-up to display information about local resources available to domestic violence victims as well as information on how to volunteer to help end violence against women and girls.

Where: Big Sandy Community/Technical College Art Gallery, Prestonsburg Description: The display will feature Kate Hilburn’s “Beating Hearts” poster series based on her stories and artwork. Poetry and drawings from inmates at Otter Creek Correctional Facility, as well as other local artists, will also be on display.
