Formerly Incarcerated Women’s Discussion Panel

FRIDAY: Press Conference 12:30 PM - 1:00 PM; panel 1:00 PM - 2:30PM

This panel and press conference will focus on the issue of violence against women as a pathway to incarceration of women. Some studies reveal that 90% of women who are or have been incarcerated are victims of violence against women and girls. The panel will consist of formerly incarcerated women from Kentucky’s correctional institutions as well as advocates, activists, and attorneys who are working to support them. Former Lexington Mayor, Teresa Issac, will moderate the panel.

August 31 FRIDAY Time: Reception & Silent Auction 6:00 PM; Curtain 7:00 PM

This production reveals the connection between women in prison and the violence that often puts them there.
